10:51 am - Experience Puccini’s Opera, Tosca, at the Clearwater Main Library
The Clearwater Main Library will host “A Prelude to Tosca,” for teens and their families, presented by Opera Tampa and narrated by legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes on Monday, April 14 at 6 p.m.
Opera Tampa’s Apprentice Artists will present music from Puccini’s famous masterpiece, Tosca. This is a prelude to the full opera production that will be performed on April 25 and 27 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

If you have a passion for theatre, have always wanted to be an actor, and enjoy low-key theatre fun, then come to the Clearwater Main Library for an improvisational acting workshop. The program, for youth ages 11 – 18, is titled “On Stage, Off Stage” and will be held on Monday, Feb. 4, 4:30 p.m.
Amateur actors will practice a short one-act play and perform it for each other. Snacks will be provided.

01:17 pm - Animal Planet’s Jeff Corwin at the Clearwater Main Library
Conservationist and television host Jeff Corwin will present the lecture and discussion “Tales from the Field,” Saturday, Feb. 2, 1 p.m. at the Clearwater Main Library.
Jeff Corwin will be making his only Florida appearance as he promotes his message of conservation and global warming. A book sale and signing will follow the presentation.
Animal Planet audiences best know Jeff Corwin as the host of The Jeff Corwin Experience. He has made guest appearances on the Today Show, Good Morning America, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Oprah. In 2004, Corwin won an Emmy for best performer in a children’s series. He also co-hosted a series of CNN specials with Anderson Cooper titled, Planet in Peril, about problems facing the environment.

01:09 pm - Learn About the Civil Rights Movement at Clearwater’s North Greenwood Library
Dr. Lorraine Mayfield-Brown will give an interactive presentation for all ages about the civil rights movement Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. at the North Greenwood Library.
The presentation is being held in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It will focus on the civil rights movement of the 50s and 60s, which broke the pattern of racial discrimination and segregation of African Americans through non-violent protest.

The Tampa Bay Miniature Enthusiasts, who are currently exhibiting in the first floor lobby display cases, will be presenting an art workshop titled "Make It & Take It,” Wednesday, Jan. 16, 6 p.m. at the Clearwater Main Library.
The Tampa Bay Miniature Enthusiasts a group of people that enjoy creating miniatures. They are an active club that meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Madeira Beach City Hall at 7 p.m.

12:39 pm - Clearwater’s North Greenwood Library Celebrates Five Years
Help Clearwater’s North Greenwood Library celebrate five years in the current library building Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. North Greenwood Library’s fifth birthday party is an opportunity to get the community together and celebrate. There will be cake, crafts, and a storyteller.
The first library in the North Greenwood area opened in April 1950 in a storefront on Pennsylvania Avenue and Cedar Street. The library housed only 5,000 books at that time. In September 1962 the library relocated to 1250 Palmetto St. and was named the Northeast Branch Library. In 1983 it became the North Greenwood Library, and in 1986, was renovated and expanded. The groundbreaking for the new North Greenwood Branch Library building was held at its current location in October 2001. The grand opening took place on Jan. 18, 2003.

11:46 am - Clearwater’s North Greenwood Library Offers AARP Driver Safety Class
Clearwater’s North Greenwood Library is hosting a two-part AARP Driver Safety Class on Wednesday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 9 from 1 – 5 p.m. each day. The North Greenwood Library is located at 905 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
This 8-hour classroom refresher course is designed for drivers ages 50 and up. The class is divided into two four-hour sessions. Auto insurance rates may decrease with discounts after this course is taken.

Ro Martinez has been a model and actress for twenty years and has appeared in numerous commercials and print ads for companies such as Walt Disney, Busch Gardens, AT&T, Nike, and Bank of America. Dr. Michael Blauner of the Pinellas Opera League will present a one-hour lecture titled, “America’s Heritage of Freedom in Opera.” Blauner will discuss selections and show scenes from great operas, Mozart: Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute; Beethoven: Fidelio; and Verdi: Nabucco, Attila, Rigoletto, The Hymn Of The Nations, on Tuesday, July 3, 12 p.m. at the Main Library. Blauner will also review ideas of the great composers and examine how they continue to influence society. Bring a brown bag lunch or have lunch at the library's BW Cafe.
