10:29 am - A week with school in session...
Pinellas County schools started back this past Tuesday. What this means here at the library is that after school hours are busier, but the days are differently busy as we gear up for the fall programs, the fall season and all the wonderful things that come around in September.
But, when all is said and done, we still have to read. So what am I reading at the moment? Well, since school went back into session, I figured I'd go back to my roots as an English teacher and read poetry:

Plainwater by Anne Carson. The stark, blunt language conjures strong imagery and emotions. She draws portraits of time in brief, hit-and-run vignettes, some composed of several lines, some composed of many. Broken down into sections, this collection of works morphs the reader into a vouyer, glimpsing memory, thought, dream and life through her very clipped language. "Short Talks", a series of paragraphs on different subjects, are powerful word paintings catching small parts of life and death and resurrecting them in normally unseen ways. "The Anthology of Water" is a series of diary entries focusing on the large and small waterways of the world, and pilgrimages to places new.

Her writing reminds me quite a bit of Jim Morrison's.
