10:51 am - Experience Puccini’s Opera, Tosca, at the Clearwater Main Library
The Clearwater Main Library will host “A Prelude to Tosca,” for teens and their families, presented by Opera Tampa and narrated by legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes on Monday, April 14 at 6 p.m.

Opera Tampa’s Apprentice Artists will present music from Puccini’s famous masterpiece, Tosca. This is a prelude to the full opera production that will be performed on April 25 and 27 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

02:11 pm - Sherrill Milnes Week, Oct. 22 – 25, at the Clearwater Main Library
The Clearwater Main Library and the Pinellas Opera League will host three exciting opera programs surrounding legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes.
- Opera enthusiast Middy Larson will host a one-hour retrospective of Mr. Milnes’ career, Mon., Oct. 22, 2 p.m. This lecture will include video from his performances.
- Opera Rocks, a ten-week lecture series at the library hosted by Dr. Michael Blauner, will feature Giuseppe Verdi's opera Macbeth with Milnes starring in the title role, Wed., Oct. 24, noon.
- An Afternoon with Sherrill Milnes will take place Thurs., Oct. 25, 2 p.m. The renowned opera star will talk about his career, which includes countless performances with two fellow giants of the opera world, the late soprano Beverly Sills and tenor Luciano Pavarotti. Copies of his newly released and revised autobiography, American Aria...Encore will be available for sale and signing.

A five-time Grammy nominee and three-time winner, Sherrill Milnes was a leading baritone at the Metropolitan Opera for 32 years and is recognized as the leading Verdi baritone worldwide of his generation. Milnes conquered the opera major houses of the world including the Met, London's Covent Garden, LaScala, Paris, Vienna, Barcelona, Munich, Salzburg, Buenos Aires, Hamburg and Moscow's Bolshoi. Since retirement from the stage his teaching career has taken him from Toronto to Tel Aviv, Italy, and Finland. In addition, Milnes has done Master Classes at Juilliard, the Manhattan School of Music in New York, and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Currently, he is artistic director for VoicExperience, a unique training program that offers performance and study opportunities for singers in the Tampa Bay area and throughout the United States. Milnes is also artistic advisor to Opera Tampa, which is affiliated with the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

10:13 am - Opera Lecture at Clearwater Main Library
Madame Butterfly remains one of the most beloved operas of all time.

Join Dr. Michael Blauner, guest lecturer from the Pinellas Opera League, for a discussion of Puccini’s tragic story at noon and 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 6 at the Clearwater Main Library, 100. N. Osceola Ave.
