09:10 am - Celebrate the Grand Opening of the Clearwater Beach Library
Come celebrate the grand opening of the new Clearwater Beach Library, located in the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center on Monday, July 21, 10 a.m. The grand opening and the 47th anniversary of the Clearwater Beach Library will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting and light refreshments. Be sure to take a tour of the new facility now inside the renovated Clearwater Beach Recreation Center. The Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library are located at 69 Bay Esplanade. 02:22 pm - Clearwater Beach Library Set to Open Oct. 15
The Clearwater Beach Library will re-open its doors on Monday, Oct. 15 in a new temporary location next to the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, 69 Bay Esplanade. The library will remain in this temporary location until summer 2008, when it will move into the Beach Recreation Center.
Construction will begin soon to expand the recreation center to accommodate a permanent location for the Beach Library. This merging of facilities, which is a result of last year’s Budget Task Force recommendations and recent state-mandated budget legislation, will save the city over $100,000.
The library’s new hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the beach library at (727) 462-6890.

10:55 am - Upcoming Changes – Losing Hours, Gaining Sundays
As part of the upcoming citywide budget reductions coming in October, the Clearwater Public Library System will be losing hours overall, but adding Sunday hours at more locations.
Beginning on Sunday, October 28, the Main and East libraries will join the Countryside Branch and open from 1-5 each Sunday. However, this will require sacrificing some evening hours. All Clearwater Library locations will now be closed at 5 pm on Thursdays and Main, East and Countryside will all close at 8 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Beach Branch will be open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday in its temporary location near the Beach Recreation Center until its permanent home is completed.
It is our hope that, even though we will be open fewer hours each week, the hours we are open will better meet the needs of you, our users. We have heard for years that people wanted Sunday hours at more locations, and this is our opportunity to respond. Please let us know what you think.

04:00 pm - Celebrate Beach Library’s 46th Birthday
To celebrate the 46th birthday of the Clearwater Beach Library, Anne Garris will present a program, “Growing Up Free on Clearwater Beach” on Wednesday, July 25, 7 p.m., at the Clearwater Beach Library, 483 Mandalay Ave. The library is normally closed at this time and it will be open only for this program. Refreshments provided.
Garris, a lifelong resident of Clearwater Beach, will speak about the history of the area, what it was like growing up here, and how it has changed. On July 19, 1961, the Clearwater Beach Library opened.
