Join clinical alternative pharmacist Pamela Seefeld, R. Ph. at the Countryside Library to learn about Alternatives for Weight Loss and Detoxification Tuesday, Feb.12, 2 p.m. Topics to be discussed include learning how preservatives make you gain weight, foods that assist in weight loss, and what vitamins you should be taking while dieting. 06:02 pm - Tampa Bay Miniature Enthusiasts Workshop at the Clearwater Main Library The Tampa Bay Miniature Enthusiasts, who are currently exhibiting in the first floor lobby display cases, will be presenting an art workshop titled "Make It & Take It,” Wednesday, Jan. 16, 6 p.m. at the Clearwater Main Library.
The Tampa Bay Miniature Enthusiasts a group of people that enjoy creating miniatures. They are an active club that meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Madeira Beach City Hall at 7 p.m.

12:34 pm - Clearwater Main Library Hosts Scholar’s Choice Lecture Series The Scholar’s Choice Lecture and Discussion Series returns with An Old Man’s Love by Anthony Trollope, Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2 p.m. at the Clearwater Main Library. Dr. Nancy Jane Tyson from the Department of English at the University of South Florida will lead the lecture.
The lecture and discussion series continues with Candide by Voltaire, Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2 p.m., with Dr. Maryhelen Harmon; On God: An Uncommon Conversation by Norman Mailer Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m., with Dr. Phillip Sipiora.
Limited copies of the books are available in advance of each lecture at the Clearwater Main Library. The Scholar’s Choice Lecture and Discussion Series explores literary classics as well as popular works. Brochures on the lecture series are available at all Clearwater Public Library System locations.

Come listen to best selling author and historian Douglas Brinkley, author of The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, and the Mississippi Coast as he recounts the events from August 27 - September 3, 2005. Brinkley is professor of history and director of the Roosevelt Center at Tulane University in New Orleans. He lived through the destruction of Hurricane Katrina and has written one of the most complete accounts of the harrowing week that followed the storm and its aftermath.
A noted historian, Douglas Brinkley has had four of his books selected as New York Times Notable Books of the Year. His last three historical narratives Tour of Duty, The Boys of Pointe du Hoc, and Parish Priest were all New York Times bestsellers. Copies of The Great Deluge will be available for sale at the program.
